Quality Assurance Engineer

Tasks and Responsibilities:
As Quality Assurance Engineer, you will take ownership of the writing of test plans and test cases and will manage their execution within a SCRUM team. Additionally, you will play a key role in the testing of complex distributed software applications with a multitier architecture. You will regularly collaborate with other QA Engineers (local and overseas), Product Managers, Software Developers, Operations staff, and other departments. Additional tasks are the following:
• Analyze product requirements; create test plans
• Execute testing tasks and report status, escalating issues as appropriate
• Coordinate and lead efforts for cross-functional-testing tasks on a project basis
• Proactively solve problems; suggest process and project improvements
• Identify project risks and recommend actions to minimize them
• Share knowledge with peers; mentor less-experienced team members
• Provide functional support for other departments
• Use your solid knowledge of QA testing techniques to determine the appropriate number of test iterations and to apply risk-based testing concepts

Your Profile:
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree
• Minimum 3 to 6 years of experience with high-traffic, data-driven website testing
• Excellent knowledge of Internet/Web technologies; familiar with web-development and testing methodologies
• Good knowledge of PHP or similar programming language
• Ability to quickly grasp newly introduced concepts on the site and to understand their impact
• Able to quickly assess and realistically determine priorities and the impact of bugs
• Must be highly organized, goal oriented, and attentive to details, yet flexible
• Excellent team player, as well as an independent achiever in a dynamic, multitasking environment with rapid development life cycles
• Strong written and verbal communication essential, with excellent mastery of English (written and spoken); fluency in Dutch preferred but not mandatory
• The following are a plus: good knowledge of SQL and MySQL database; knowledge of Atlassian Jira, Rally, and TestCase management tools; ISEB/ISTQB certification; knowledge of Agile (SCRUM) development and Agile testing; knowledge of automated testing strategies and implementations
